Two much-awaited movies Bhairathi Ranagal and Kanguva are all set to hit the theatres this week. These two films will see a face-off at the theatres. Today let’s take a look at everything you need to know about this week’s theatrical releases.
Bhairathi Ranagal:
Bhairathi Ranagal delves into the origin of one of Kannada cinema’s iconic characters. A prequel to the 2017 hit Mufti, the film sees Dr Shivarajkumar return as the titular figure, charting his journey from idealistic lawyer to feared gangster. Originally, Ranagal was a principled officer of the court who abandoned his black robe after losing faith in the system he once upheld. The story revolves around the events that drive Ranagal to take justice into his own hands, turning him into a ruthless enforcer who doesn’t spare his enemies.
This Kannada-language neo-noir action thriller film is directed by Narthan and produced by Geetha Shivarajkumar under Geetha Pictures. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar in the titular role, with Rahul Bose, Rukmini Vasanth, Devaraj, Chaya Singh, Madhu Guruswamy, Vasishta N. Simha, Shabeer Kallarakkal and Babu Hirannaiah playing supporting roles.
Ravi Basrur who had previously worked with Narthan on Mufti, composed the soundtrack and score of the film. The audio rights of the film were acquired by Anand Audio. The film is all set to release on November 15, 2024. According to the latest report the film is said to be releasing on a big scale.
Kanguva:
On the other hand, Kanguva is a Tamil-language fantasy drama directed by Siva featuring Suriya in a double role — as an ancient warrior Kanguva and as a modern-day bounty hunter whose lives are intertwined by fate. Disha Patani plays a member of Kanguva’s team, while Bobby Deol, in his Tamil film debut, plays the leader of Kanguva’s enemy clan.
This Tamil-language epic fantasy action film is directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green, together with UV Creations.
The film stars Suriya in dual roles, alongside Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, K. S. Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala and Mansoor Ali Khan.
Kanguva was released worldwide today on November 14, in standard, 3D and IMAX formats. As per the recent report the film received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics with praise for the cast’s performance (especially Suriya & Bobby Deol), background score, pacing, VFX, CGI and SFX, but they criticized the writing, screenplay and some dialogues.
Reports suggest that more than 2 lakh tickets were sold within hours, earning Rs 4.3 crore. Tamil Nadu sold the maximum number of tickets, followed by Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Kanguva was released in eight languages including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, English, French and Spanish.
