CBI has made its first arrest in the alleged liquor scam, in which liquor licenses were handed out to chosen private players and in which the CBI claims there were huge losses to the exchequer. The agency has arrested Vijay Nair, former CEO of an event management company, Only Much Louder, and named as accused number 5 in the FIR registered by the agency. The CBI says that Nair played a key role in routing kickbacks to public servants. Nair is also related to the Aam Aadmi Party and is its communications in-charge. After Nair’s arrest, AAP has stepped up its attack on the BJP, saying he has been held as he was handling the social media for Gujarat AAP and where the BJP allegedly is rattled by AAP’s increasing popularity.
