Currently, all securities that trade in NSE have a tick size of 0.05. While on BSE, securities that trade below ₹100 have a tick size of 0.01.
Starting June 10, 2024, NSE will revise the tick size for all the stocks trading below ₹250 in the equity segment to 0.01 instead of 0.05. This change will also apply to futures contracts traded on securities that are trading below ₹250, this will not apply to option contracts trading on that security.
The tick size will be reviewed by the exchange every month, with the closing price on the last trading day of the month being used to determine the tick size, which will apply for the next month.
Closing price on the last trading day of the month | Tick size |
---|---|
0 – 250 | 0.01 |
250 and above | 0.05 |
This is how the process will work in case of new listings:
In case of corporate actions

As the tick size are being changed. Can we have the tick size mentioned for every individual script on quote on kite app. Also it needs to be included for quote calls made on kite api. As it can no longer be assumed that every script will have a tick size of .05 . @Matti can you please update on the same ?
Actually this is required for options too. There is huge difference between 0.1 and 0.05
I believe this is already mentioned above the price input box when you click buy/sell button
oh yes. How about the api calls? Is there anyway to get tick size using kite api?
Will check the feasibility and/or need for this; since the ticks are relative to the stock price, should be inherently deducible.
@Matti thanks for getting back quickly. It wont be easily deductible. As NSE has laid out that ticks will be change on monthly basis. So if a stock during review was priced less than 250 during monthly review process will have tick of .01 . It will still have same tick even if it goes above 250 post review process. Hence it wont be easily deduced for such cases.

If its not already there, i think instrument data should have tick info.
