Trust leaders in Cornwall have been told to make improvements to services on medical wards after inspectors found that staff shortages were affecting team morale and the care and safety of patients.1
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) reviewed some medical wards at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro in September after it received reports of concerns. The hospital is one of three services, along with St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance, run by the Royal Cornwall NHS Trust that provides care to nearly 600 000 people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
