JAMMU: In a joint operation, J&K Police and Army have busted a terrorist hideout in Ramban district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including a 52 mm mortar. A police spokesperson on Wednesday said the security forces launched the search in a far-flung hilly and forested area in Khari tehsil on Tuesday evening on receiving specific information about the presence of arms and ammunition, and discovered the hideout, where the cache was stored.
The recovery included 5 AK-47 magazines, pistol magazines, 4 detonators, a 2-ft cordex wire, a PIKA belt, LMG ammunition belt box and hundreds of rounds of assorted cartridges, besides 5 audio cassettes, 2 old bags, 2 identity cards and several other items.
An FIR was registered under the Arms Act and the Explosives Substances Act at Banihal police station.
