NEW DELHI: The third Vande Bharat Express train, currently under trial run in Delhi-Chandigarh route, may run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.
Though no formal decision has yet been taken, sources said the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route is most likely to be the choice for running this next semi-high speed train. They added that the operation of the train would also be financially viable considering the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route has a potential of attracting patronage.
The fare of Vande Bharat trains are higher than other mail and express trains because of its modern amenities and higher speed of 160 kmph, which will reduce the travel time between the two cities.
The third rake of the train reached Chandigarh on Thursday for oscillation trial. The train would undergo trials for a month or 45 days and then it will need mandatory clearance from the Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS).
