AT&T Data Breach Affects 73 Million Customers
An AT&T data breach has affected million of customers and the sensitive information has been leaked on the dark web earlier this month. The company revealed the news on Saturday adding that the breach includes current and former customers.
The compromised data includes personal information and security numbers. The source of the data is still under investigation, as it’s not known whether the leak came from within the company or one of its vendors.
AT&T says that based on its preliminary analysis, the data set appears to be from 2019 or earlier, impacting approximately 7.6 million current AT&T account holders and approximately 65.4 million former account holders. The company has already reset passwords on millions of customer accounts.
AT&T is also communicating with those impacted and will be offering credit monitoring where applicable. If you are a current and former AT&T customer, you can visit www.att.com/accountsafety for more information.
