New FNBO Amtrak Credit Cards Coming in October
Last year, Bank of America stopped taking new applications for the Amtrak Guest Rewards credit cards. There were rumors at the time that Amtrak and its Guest Rewards program could shift to a new credit card issuer.
In recent days it was revealed that Amtrak has selected First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) to provide a new credit card program and service to existing cardholders.
FNBO already has a new page for the new credit cards. The company says it will be working closely together to provide a smooth transition to FNBO. The switch will happen on October 23rd, and you will receive your new cards in the mail in a plain white envelope in early October.
The new Amtrak Guest Rewards Mastercard (formerly Amtrak Guest Rewards Platinum Mastercard) will still be a no-fee credit card. The annual fee for the Amtrak Guest Rewards Preferred Mastercard (formerly Amtrak Guest Rewards World Mastercard) will go up to $99. Your account number, expiration date and 3 digit security code will change, but the benefits will remain the same and cards will still be issued by Mastercard.
It’s not clear what kind of signup bonus, if any, these cards will have.
The website linked above will provide a resource for frequently asked questions and updated information as FNBO completes this change.
