Zomato launches new services to deliver ‘iconic dishes’ from different cities
Zomato on Wednesday (August 31) launched ‘Intercity Legends’, a pilot project that lets users order iconic dishes from any Indian city to various cities in the country. Talking about the new services, Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal noted in the blog post that people can “order and relish legendary dishes like baked rosogollas from Kolkata, kebabs from Lucknow, biryani from Hyderabad, Mysore pak from Bengaluru, butter chicken from Old Delhi, or pyaaz kachori from Jaipur.”
Your order will be delivered to your city via flight/road, therefore it could take around a day to reach. Goyal noted in the blog that the order can be reheated, refried. “We at Zomato have put together some of the best problem solvers and product makers to find a way to bring popular cuisine from cities across India to your doorstep,” the blog read.

How Zomato’s “Intercity Legend” works:
“Iconic Foods” from different cities can be ordered from Zomato’s “Intercity Legends” and it will be transported through flights. According to the company’s founder and CEO Depinder Goyal, mobile refrigeration technology maintains food without the need to freeze or add any preservatives as it is freshly prepared by restaurants and packed in reusable and tamper-proof containers. When you receive the order you can microwave, air-fry, or pan-fry before eating.
According to Goyal, the company is currently “piloting this for select users in Gurugram and regions of South Delhi.” Zomato will also take cognizance of the quality of the food. Specific dishes that can be ordered using Intercity Legends services have undergone laboratory testing to ensure that the aroma, texture, and taste remain of the highest quality.”There is a jewel hidden in every nook and corner of India. With over 100 airports and a rich spread of India’s most iconic cuisine, the sky is the limit on how big an intercity legend can become,” Goyal said. Goyal said.
