How to Customize Your Premium PowerPoint List Template
After choosing a premium template, you’ll want to customize it. Here’s how to customize a premium template.
In this tutorial, I’ll customize slide five of the Infographic premium template. You can find it on Envato Elements.
I’m using a macOS and Microsoft PowerPoint version 16.62. If you’re using a different operating system or software version, your results may vary.
Let’s get started:
1. Add Your Information
Slide five already has a list, so you just need to add your own information. To do this, highlight the text that you want to change and press the Delete key on your keyboard.Â
This erases the current text. Now you can add your text.
2. Add a Text Box
This slide only comes with four bullet points in the list. Your PowerPoint list could be longer, so you may need to add another text box.
To add a text box, click on the Insert tab. Next, in the toolbar, click on the Text Box button. Then, click on the blank spot where you want your text box to be and draw a diagonal line.
Now you’ve got a text box. You’ll see a blinking cursor in it. This means you can start typing.
3. Make It Match
After you add a text box and put information in it, you’ll want to make that bullet point look like the others. To do this, you can copy and paste objects.
To copy an object, right-click on it, and you’ll see a menu pop up. Choose the Copy option. Next, right-click in a blank area where you want the object, and choose the Paste option.
Finally, move the object to where you want it to be.
4. Change the Object’s Color
You can change the color of an object. To begin, click on the object that you want to change the color of. Next, select the Shape Format tab above the toolbar.Â
Then, click on the arrow next to the Shape Fill button. When you click on the Shape Fill button, a color menu drops down. Choose the color that you want.
5. Change the Background Color
Changing the background color can make your slide stand out. To do it, click on the Design tab. Then, in the toolbar, click on the Format Background button. A format pane opens on the right side of your window.
You’ll see a Color field with the Fill Color button in the format pane. When you click the Fill Color button, a color menu drops down. Choose the color you need.
5 Quick PowerPoint List Slide Design Tips for 2024
You’ve got your hands on a pre-built PowerPoint template, so what now? It’s time to start creating an impactful presentation. Here are five design tips to get you on the right track.
1. Know Your Audience
Presentations need to represent your brand, suit your content, and resonate with your audience. Do some research to know who your audience is.
This helps you include content, graphics, and other elements that appeal to them.Â
2. Tell Visual Stories
Wordy presentations can be dull and hard to follow, reflecting poorly on you and your brand. Turn your presentation into a visual story. Make sure it’s suitable for your subject and audience.

3. Keep It Minimalist
Most modern premium PowerPoint templates are minimalist. This is simply because it’s best to avoid overloaded slides. They end up looking unprofessional.
After adding your content, take a step back. Consider removing text or breaking up slides if necessary.
Here are a few ways to keep a presentation minimalist:
- Don’t add more design elements to a pre-built professional template.
- Leave as much white space as possible.
- Use only a few colors or stick to the color themes the template comes with.
- Use bullet points or visuals.
4. Mix It Up
Grab attention by using different infographics, visuals, and media elements. View your presentation in Slide Sorter view to get an overview of it. If you notice three or more slides looking the same, try changing the design elements or the visuals.Â
5. Use High-Quality Images and Graphics
Pixelated or stretched visuals ruin any presentation deck. Use high-quality photos and graphics at all times.Â
Pick and download as many visuals as you need from Envato Elements. With a monthly subscription, you’ll get unlimited access to millions of digital assets.Â
