KANPUR: Vice-chancellor, CSJM University, Professor Vinay Kumar Pathak, rejoined his office on Monday after a gap of two-and-a-half months. The media cell of CSJM University said that the vice-chancellor was on medical leave.
Prof Pathak has been accused of bribery, corruption and extorting money. The CBI after registering a case is investigating the charges against him. The Enforcement Directorate, too, has started a separate probe against him.
Earlier, the UP STF was investigating graft charges against him. The case was transferred to the CBI after the state government recommended it on the basis of an FIR lodged by David Mario Danish, the owner of a company conducting examinations in different universities of the state.
Meanwhile, on the first day of his office after rejoining, Prof Pathak met teachers and employees of the varsity. He held a meeting with them regarding the convocation ceremony scheduled to be held next month. He also spoke to teachers about NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) grading of CSJM University. He instructed the teachers and staff members to prepare well for NAAC.
The meeting was attended by pro vice-chancellor Professor Sudhir Kumar Awasthi, registrar Anil Kumar Yadav, dean administration Prof Sudhanshu Pandiya, Prof RK Trivedi and Prof Sandeep Singh.
Talking about the convocation ceremony, Prof Pathak said that the convocation is proposed to be held on February 16.
The VC held separate meetings with members of different committees formed for the smooth conduct of the convocation. He asked the teachers concerned to prepare the final list of the students who would be receiving the medals and upload the same on the university website.
