Amritsar: The Centre for Innovation and Bio-Design(CIBioD) at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research(PGIMER), Chandigarh presented its work about the development of robust disruptive solutions for making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for the rural and remote masses during the G-20 Summit held at Amritsar from March 15-17.
CIBioD is an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded technology incubator at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann also visited the pavilion of CIBioD at G20 Summit and showed interest in the ‘Futuristic Healthcare Delivery Platform’ of the CIBioD presenting an automated teleconsultation platform and the point of care diagnostic facilities. The chief minister also instructed the officials to explore the possibilities of the deployment of such a system in the state.
In a short duration of three years, CIBioD has developed a number of innovative technologies, eight patents have been granted, 11 patents have been published and 12 patents have been filed. CIBioD is also promoting entrepreneurship in health care for the development of a futuristic healthcare delivery model for achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) with the deployment of cutting-edge technologies in primary healthcare.
The experts connected with this project claimed that it will also reduce the carbon footprint, promote social stability, and better as well as early utilization of healthcare services by the socio-economically backward and marginal populations with an aim to decongest the tertiary care centres. It also bridges the gaps in service delivery and brings communities closer to uninterrupted services even during tough periods like pandemics, claimed experts.
