Rapper Killer Mike found himself in a whirlwind of events at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, initially making headlines for his triumphant wins and then unexpectedly being detained by the LAPD for misdemeanour battery. Despite the tumultuous turn of events, his lawyer confirmed that Killer Mike had been released and was ready to continue celebrating his achievements. The arrest, captured in videos shared on social media, occurred as Killer Mike was being escorted out of Crypto.com Arena after clinching three Grammy Awards during the pre-televised portion of the ceremony.
Killer Mike’s victories in three categories – best rap song and best rap performance for Scientists & Engineers, as well as best rap album for Michael – underscored his enduring talent and impact in the music industry. His collaborative track Scientists & Engineers featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane triumphed over formidable contenders in the best rap performance and best rap song categories.
Michael, his sixth studio album released in June 2023, also emerged victorious in the best rap album category, further solidifying Killer Mike’s place among rap’s elite. This marked a triumphant return to the Grammy stage after nearly two decades, with his last win dating back to 2003 for his feature on OutKast’s The Whole World.
