However, a lesser known fact about the late actor is that he had a link to Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s blockbuster film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Filmmaker Karan Johar once revealed in his biography, An Unsuitable Boy that Shah Rukh wore the same sweater worn by Rishi Kapoor in the film Chandni during the sequence where Kajol imagines him bidding her farewell during the Na Jaane Mere Dil Ko Kya song.

Karan added that due to budgetary constraints they had to go through old clothes in studios of Mumbai and they found the red and white striped sweater and even stitched on a patch to hide a small hole. Back in the day, Rishi Kapoor’s character in Chandni was solely responsible for making sweaters fashionable for men.
