Sri Lankan and Indian garment workers have been grappling with challenges stemming from closure of few apparel units in Jordan.
Reports from Bangladesh also indicate that a considerable number of garment workers who previously worked in Jordanian apparel factories returned home during the July-November period of the fiscal year 2023-24.
For the past few months, the Sri Lankan apparel workers along those from India have been facing challenges due to the factory closures even if reports from Bangladesh also suggest many garment workers who were employed in the Jordanian apparel factories earlier, came back home in the July-November period of the fiscal 2023-24.
As per the Sri Lankan authorities, some more workers, who were employed with these two units, would be returning home soon.
