In March, eight categories experienced YoY price increases, including apparel. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, 10 of the 18 categories in the DPI saw prices fall. Price increases were observed in eight categories, including apparel.
US online prices fell by 1.7 per cent YoY in March 2023, as per Adobe DPI, marking the seventh consecutive month of YoY price decreases.
Apparel prices rose 6.6 per cent YoY, an uptick from the 5.1 per cent YoY increase in February 2023.
Prices for furniture and bedding fell 0.9 per cent YoY, the second consecutive month of annual price decreases.
Prices rose 6.6 per cent YoY (up 1.8 per cent MoM) in the apparel category—an uptick from February 2023’s 5.1 per cent YoY increase—but down from February 2022, when apparel prices were up 16.7 per cent YoY, as per Adobe DPI.
For furniture and bedding, prices were down 0.9 per cent YoY (down 0.3 per cent MoM), marking the second consecutive month where prices have fallen on an annual basis (down 0.1 per cent YoY in February 2023). Prior to this, prices for the category had risen for 33 consecutive months, peaking in March 2021 (up 5.7 per cent YoY).
