It’s no secret that humans are the epitome of stupidity, but some stories just make you wonder what went wrong with our evolution to bring us to this moment in time. People just leave you in utter disbelief, making you realize that you’re surrounded by a bunch of idiots. Here are eleven stories from members of an online forum that will make you sigh at the world.
1. A Coffee Refill
At a local gas station, a completely absurd conversation broke out between a customer and the employee. They had a special offer for the day where their coffee was priced at a dollar. The customer had already bought a cup and wanted to get a refill, so instead of wasting the cup he had, he went and asked for it to be filled again.
The employee responded by saying, “It’ll be $1.58.” When the customer asked why, the employee responded, “That’s not a cup; it’s a refill.”
2. Grown-up Goofs
One person recalled a child’s birthday bash, filled with several adults who had tagged along with their kids. When one of the children there got a gaping wound on his head, blood gushed out like a mini fountain.
You’d expect the adults to step up in such a scenario, but that wasn’t the case.
They proceeded to run around the house in a frenzy like a panicking chicken in a coop while there was only one couple smart enough to actually help the child. Though it turned out to need some minor stitches, it makes one ponder the parenting approach these adults might employ in raising their children. Good grief.
3. Common Sense Is Not So Common
Get ready to get your mind blown. A person spoke about how she was walking towards her car in the parking lot when she noticed four women yelling.
She walked over to offer some help only to realize the absurd situation. There was a four-year-old kid in the car who had gotten locked inside with the key still in the ignition.
All of them were trying to tell him how to take it out instead of simply asking him to unlock the door. When she pitched in this idea, they replied with, “Wow! You’re like a detective.” Well, no, ma’am, she just had some common sense.
4. Teen Hero
As much as we like to throw Gen Z under the bus, they always pull through. A man talked about his daughter, who worked at a McDonald’s on the wrong side of town.
The adult staff there was trained in first aid for emergencies. On one of her breaks, this seventeen-year-old girl saw a man lying on the ground with a stab wound.
She quickly asked for help and brought gloves for her manager to help put pressure on the bleeding hole, but seeing how he began to hyperventilate, she proceeded to do it herself, asking the manager to call 911. The paramedics who arrived at the scene were blown away by the girl’s swift action.
5. Does Space Exist?
You just won’t believe what people have convinced themselves of these days. A young lad went to a small gathering to fulfill his social responsibilities
He mentioned something about the National Space Center, to which a woman replied, “Oh, I love taking my son there. He loves it, and I just find it amusing because I don’t believe in space.”
Completely dumbfounded, he went on to inquire further if she was talking about the funding or space itself. She responded that she thinks agencies are faking images, and she’s never seen it. The worst part about it is that a second woman agreed, saying, “You’re right. Now that I think about it, I’ve never seen it too!”
Man, the world needs less of whatever this is.
6. The Security Conundrum
On their way to a hockey match, a girl and her mother were passing through security with a clear bag that had nothing inside. In the first line, the security guard directed them to the unique bags area despite clearly seeing there was nothing inside.
In the second line, the bag was too big to fit, but despite knowing it was empty, he sent them to the next booth. In the third line, the guards looked at them like they were stupid, so they explained the situation and reported it to the management.
Talk about taking security too far.
7. Back to the Basics
In an undergrad classroom, things took a weird turn of events. During one of the classes, the topic of the lecture got a little sidetracked when two kids just couldn’t wrap their heads around how the Earth revolves around the Sun and not the other way around. They kept arguing while the professor calmly explained it to them.
The final boiling point was when they said, “How do we have seasons then?” to which the professor simply blinked his eyes and told them to get back to the actual class at hand. It’s safe to say these two did not graduate that year.
8. Time Flies
When a guy had a flight in seven hours, he decided to head up to the airport. The security guard told him to come back the next day as his flight was tomorrow. The guy then explained that the next day was one hour away.
When the guard was adamant, the guy talked to his supervisor, who listened patiently. At the end, he said, “Let him in. You need to learn how to tell the time. See me later.”
9. The “S” in Specialist Stands for Stupid
Even medical professionals can be extremely stupid, and that’s cause for concern. A person received a call from the hospital about her spinal injection appointment. This was followed by a question, “Would you like to come to the hospital or proceed via a Zoom call?”
I wonder how you can inject someone across your laptop.
10. Just Unlock the Door
A guy recalls how his friend had gotten his keys stuck inside the car and locked the doors by accident. He proceeded to use a wire hanger to hook the lock at the corner of the door to pull it up and unlock the vehicle.
The guy came and saw his friend struggling with it. He asked him if the car was automatic, to which he said yes. The user “suggested he use the end of the clothes hanger wire to press the “lock/unlock” on his interior door, which was clearly visible.”
At least they had a good laugh about it at the end.
11. Excellent Logic
Is your phone really waterproof if it has a huge gaping hole in the middle of the screen? Well, one guy thought so and decided to take his phone into the pouring rain. He thought it wouldn’t do anything as it was water-resistant.
Surprise, surprise, the screen display was ruined entirely, costing him a fortune to replace.
