According to an Office Memorandum from the Directorate of CGHS, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the new rates came into effect on February 1.
As per an ET report, the Office Memorandum stated that these rates will replace the previous CGHS package rates for general surgery. The terms and conditions of empanelment will remain the same. The revised rates will remain valid until further notice.

Eligibility for the revised rates of CGHS packages
Under the CGHS, eligibility for medical facilities is determined solely by residence. Therefore, central government employees and their families residing in any notified city are covered under the Scheme. CGHS services are accessible in 80 cities across India. The updated rates for general surgery apply to all CGHS cities, as stated in the Office Memorandum.
In order to access CGHS services, a central government employee must fill out the necessary forms in the prescribed format and attach photos of eligible family members. These forms should then be submitted to the respective ministry, department, or office where the employee is employed.
Central government pensioners have the option to obtain a CGHS card from the office of an additional director in their city. Forms for this purpose can be obtained from the office of the additional director of the city (or additional director headquarters in Delhi), or they can be downloaded from the CGHS website. In situations where the Pension Payment Order (PPO) is not yet available, a provisional card can be issued based on the last pay certificate.
The revised rates of CGHS packages for general surgery will be implemented from February 1, 2024.
