If you’ve been hunting for the perfect condo in the heart of Los Angeles, Danny McBride might just have the ideal spot for you. The actor, comedian, writer, and producer is selling the duplex penthouse he’s owned in the landmark Broadway Hollywood Building since 2008 for $1.8 million. California’s Mills Act, which permits tax breaks for the active maintenance of historic properties’ design integrity, is the key to the 2,200-square-foot abode’s bargain price tag.
McBride, star of HBO’s hit comedy series The Righteous Gemstones, parted ways with the pad in 2017 when he moved his family and production company to their current home base in Charleston, South Carolina, which is also where the series is filmed. The actor has leased and listed the place over the years, including in 2013 when it was on the rental market for $8,500 per month.
The crown jewel of a 1939-built annex added to the original 10-story structure, the apartment is wrapped in banded windows that provide generous amounts of natural light to the interiors and unobstructed views of the iconic Capitol Records building, the Hollywood Sign, and the rolling hills. Upon entering the recently refurbished one bedroom, two-bathroom loft, a small corridor and narrow media room lead to soaring double-height ceilings and an expansive living area facing the vista.
The open kitchen is outfitted with stainless steel appliances and cabinetry, and, in true loft style, is topped by exposed ductwork and pipes which run along the ceiling. A staircase in the living area leads to the loft bedroom, which features a walk-in closet and an ensuite bathroom overlain in black, white, and gray marble. A door off to the side ushers visitors through to a private outdoor terrace equipped with a cozy fireplace.

Perks of the building include 24-hour valet, a top-floor fitness center, and the recently finished rooftop that boasts a pool, hot tub, and cabanas from which to take in the spectacular views. Celeb sightings are likely just a short elevator ride down to Katsuya, a sushi restaurant on the ground floor and an A-list hotspot where stars like Tyler the Creator, Tom Hanks, and Kate Hudson are sometimes seen. Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, and Dave Navarro are some of the Hollywood elites who once owned a condo in the building. Deedee Howard at The Agency holds the listing.
