The White Lotus has booked its next first-class trip. When the Emmy Award–winning HBO anthology returns for season three, a new group of pampered vacationers will unpack their logo-covered luggage in Thailand, according to Variety. Though HBO hasn’t officially confirmed this, creator Mike White has been spotted scouting locations in the mostly Buddhist country known as the “land of smiles” after suggesting his social satire would next focus on “death and Eastern religion and spirituality.” Since Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii and Italy have previously stood in for the show’s high-end properties, it’s a good bet White and his team are touring the company’s four five-star hotels in Thailand—in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and the Golden Triangle. Here’s some of what each might offer the future fictional travelers seeking spiritual enlightenment.
Bangkok at Chao Phraya River
Though a sacred space for business travelers, this city sanctuary located alongside one of the country’s major waterways in an artsy area filled with galleries, boutiques, and restaurants may not be ideal for serious seekers. Still, a new wellness center offering spa treatments and spiritual guidance, and outdoor lap, and infinity pools with sweeping river views might provide some inner peace.
