Indian-American Neal Mohan to Succeed Susan Wojcicki as YouTube’s New CEO
In a blog post on Thursday (February 16), Susan Wojcicki, the Chief Executive Officer of YouTube, announced that she will be stepping down from her position after leading the world’s largest online video platform for nine years. She also revealed that Neal Mohan, an Indian-American who currently serves as YouTube’s chief product officer, will be taking over as the new head of YouTube.
Wojcicki informed YouTube employees of her decision to step back from her role as the head of YouTube in an email, in which she stated that she has been with the company for nearly 25 years.
Neal Mohan has been a part of YouTube since 2015 and has held the position of chief product officer during his tenure. He has been responsible for overseeing user experience and implementing global trust and safety measures.
Wojcicki, who is 54 years old, plans to focus on her family, health, and personal projects that she is passionate about. Before her role as CEO of YouTube, she served as a senior vice president for ad products at Google before assuming the top position at the video-sharing platform in 2014.

Having been with the parent company Alphabet Inc for almost 25 years, she was one of Google’s earliest employees. Prior to her tenure at Google, Ms. Wojcicki held positions at Intel Corp and Bain & Company. In her new role, Wojcicki will provide advisory services to Google, which is the parent company of YouTube.
Who is Neal Mohan?
- Indian-American Neal Mohan graduated from Stanford University with a degree in electrical engineering.
- Mohan has been a longtime lieutenant of Susan Wojcicki and joined Google as part of the DoubleClick acquisition in 2007.
