Presidents often face challenges in trying to run for a second term in office. Their performance is known, and they may not have the same level of support as they did in their first run. This is something President Biden is currently facing.
He faces some unique headwinds that may keep him from securing a second term in the Oval Office. Here are ten reasons why Joe Biden won’t be re-elected.
There’s Little Enthusiasm
It’s not uncommon for a sitting President to have an air of enthusiasm around him. That can carry him through to victory.
There’s minimal enthusiasm for President Biden. Whether it be his age, or something else, poll numbers clearly reveal a lack of excitement for him returning for a second term.
People Believe the Economy is Bad
The Biden administration would like you to believe that the economy is chugging along quite well. Yes, in some areas, it is performing well.
However, the perception among many is that the economy is struggling. Couple that with many working-class families continuing to deal with economic headwinds. It poses a problem when votes are voted with their pocketbooks.
Trump is a Strong Candidate, Despite His Baggage
Logic would dictate that with the indictments Trump is facing, he wouldn’t be a strong candidate. That is simply not the case. In fact, they seem to be bolstering support for him in the Republican base.
Given the strength of his supporters as it is, this only makes Trump a stronger opponent.
He’s Losing Support From African-American Voters
It’s well-documented that voters of color, particularly African Americans, were a key part of his election win in 2020. While he still had strong support from African Americans, that support was waning.
Right after the election, Biden had an approval rating of 86 percent from African-American voters. It’s currently just over 60 percent. That may spell trouble for a repeat win in 2024.
He’s Too Old
President Biden is currently 81 years old. He will be 82 just weeks after Election Day in 2024.
If he wins in 2024 and serves the entire term, he’ll be 86 when his time in office is complete.
He’s Done a Poor Job of Communicating Wins
President Biden has had some nice wins. He was able to secure infrastructure spending. The economy, on some fronts, is doing better. He’s acting to try to eliminate junk fees.
Critics have said the administration has done a lackluster job in communicating those wins. That’s concerning, given the uphill battle he faces.
He Hasn’t Moved Left Enough For Some
Relatively, Biden is a middle-of-the-road Democrat. For some in the party, he hasn’t moved left enough.
The environment, the fighting in Israel, and more are posing problems for Biden on the left. This may leave some Democrats looking to put their support elsewhere come election time.
Trump is Ahead in Battleground States
Battleground states are essential to both parties. Recent reports reveal that Trump is ahead in five key battleground states.
He is currently ahead in Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Biden won all five in 2020. Losing any of them could doom his campaign.
They May Not Get All Pro-Choice Voters
Overturning Roe v Wade was something Republicans focused on since it came down. It’s an incredibly galvanizing issue and one that spans both parties.
Moderate Republicans are working on messaging to try to peel off some voters from Biden. They may not take a lot, but every little bit eats into the inherent support Biden has on the issue.
He Has to Actually Campaign Now
During the 2020 election season, the pandemic was impacting the ability of candidates to campaign.
That is no longer the case. The campaign trail is wide open and busy as ever. This could impact an older Biden as all of his actions are under a microscope.
