UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has announced more than £50m in funding for researchers to develop “trustworthy and secure” artificial intelligence (AI) that can help solve major societal challenges, including healthcare.
Of this, £31m is being given to Responsible AI UK—a consortium of academic and industry partners, led by the University of Southampton—which will use the money to fund multidisciplinary research to determine “what responsible and trustworthy AI is, how to develop it and build it into existing systems, and the impacts it will have on society.”
