Elizabeth Elliott graduated from Durham University and after working in the north of England; Auckland, New Zealand; Derby; and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital she took up the post of consultant paediatrician at the Memorial Hospital Darlington in 1975.It was here that she developed the special care baby unit and with a multidisciplinary team created a child development centre for children with disabilities.Elizabeth will be remembered for her love of children and for the care that she gave to families.She died peacefully, eight days after her 87th birthday, having enjoyed a full and active life with her great interest in botany and natural historyElizabeth does not leave any close relatives.
