This Opinion article by Umika Moorjani and colleagues (BMJ 2023;383:p2365, doi:10.1136/bmj.p2365) wrongly stated: “Upcoming changes to medical school final exams will replace finals with a standardised Medical Licensing Agreement examination.” The sentence should have explained that Medical Licensing Assessment examinations will be required in addition to rather than replacing medical school final exams. The name of the examination was also incorrect. The sentence now reads “Upcoming changes to the awarding of UK medical degrees means passing a standardised Medical Licensing Assessment examination will be required in addition to medical school final exams.”
