The UK urgently requires sustained and ambitious investment in cancer care to reduce mortality and improve survival rates, the charity Cancer Research UK (CRUK) has said.
Despite UK cancer survival rates doubling over the past 50 years, the country continues to perform poorly compared with international peers. With NHS cancer services in “crisis” and half a million cancer cases a year projected by 2040, the charity warned that hard won progress was at risk of stalling.
