NHS staff will get extra 10 days’ paid leave
NHS staff who have a miscarriage in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy will receive up to 10 days of additional paid leave, and their partner will be offered up to five, NHS England has announced. The national policy framework on pregnancy and baby loss asks NHS trusts to give staff paid time off to attend appointments for medical examinations, scans, and tests, as well as mental health related interventions. Staff who return to work after a pregnancy loss will also be offered occupational health support. (Full story doi:10.1136/bmj.q638)
