Infant mortality in the US rose by 3% in 2022, increasing for the first time in 20 years from 5.44 per 1000 live births in 2021 to 5.60, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported.1 This is in stark contrast to a decline of 22% in infant mortality between 2002 and 2021.
