India’s beloved onscreen ‘Lord Ram’ Arun Govil has delighted his fans by visiting Ram Mandir in Ayodhya yesterday, on January 23rd. He said in an interview how visiting the temple has fructified his dreams into a reality. At the same time, he has promised his fans to visit Ayodhya in the future again.
The pran pratishtha ceremony (or, the consecration) of Ram Mandir was executed yesterday, on January 23rd. Arun Govil was one of the hundreds of invitees. He arrived in Ayodhya a few days earlier with his on-screen Ramayan family: Dipika Chikhlia (wife Sita) and Sunil Lahri (brother Laxman).
Portraying the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan made the young Arun Govil a household name in every Indian house. His grace and the ever-present smile on his face left an indelible mark on millions of hearts. It was natural that he got the invite to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 23rd.
His visit was something his fans have been looking forward to. Watching the fictional Lord Ram seek the blessings of the real (idol) Lord Ram was a moment not to be missed.
Talking to Bharat 24, Govil admitted that walking the grounds of the Ram Mandir is like a dream come true. Adding to the sheer delight of his fans, Govil also promised to visit the temple in the future.
Visiting Ram Mandir was a ‘divine moment’, says Arun Govil
When thousands of thousands of devotees are pouring over, it wouldn’t come as a wonder if you miss out on having ‘darshan’ from Ram Lalla. And if it’s the inauguration day, the matter goes easily out of hand.
The same happened with Arun Govil. He missed out on getting a proper ‘darshan’. Why?
Because of the massive crowd, he explained, and some time constraints. But Govil didn’t this let-down let his spirit down. He kept his love and devotion true by looking into future visits, and not dwelling on the present.
Complying with his graceful and kind onscreen image, Govil gave hope to his fans with a promise. Through NDTV, Govil promised to visit Ram Mandir again and get a proper ‘darshan’. He also addressed his time in Ram Mandir as a divine moment.
Arun Govil reveals interesting facts about doing Ramayan
In a recent interview with News18, Govil confessed to some interesting facts about his relationship with the epic TV series Ramayan.
For starters, he revealed that people had advised him against doing the role of Lord Ram. They called it a ‘graded work’. Govil ignored those warnings and went ahead with his gut feeling, eventually accepting the role and becoming a household name.
Another interesting fact is that Govil had never anticipated receiving so much love and huge stardom through a TV show.
“…I got a lot of love from the audience,” explained Govil. “I wouldn’t get so much love if I was a commercial actor. Now, I think if I wouldn’t have done this role, I wouldn’t have lived my life.”
Last but not least, Govil felt what other humble superstars feel with this kind of success – Gratitude.
“God is giving me all of this and I tell myself to take whatever he gives. He has blessed me a lot. But I have no credit in this, I haven’t done anything, I’m just a medium.”
