Actor Yami Gautam and director Aditya Dhar are expecting their first child. The couple, who have been married for three years, are anticipating the arrival of a new member to their family. Yami, who is currently five months pregnant, is set to give birth later this year. Speaking to the press following the trailer launch of her upcoming film, “Article 370,” Yami discussed her experience of filming while pregnant.
‘It’s mentally taxing’
After joking about potentially writing a thesis on working while pregnant, Yami emphasized the mental toll it takes. She expressed, “Plus, the firsts are always challenging. If you ask me about motherhood and everything coming together, I don’t know what I would’ve done if Aditya wasn’t by my side.”
She also highlighted feeling a sense of responsibility as an actor to complete filming for the movie. “We took a lot of precautions. It wasn’t the time to announce to everybody and was kept a secret while shooting. But luckily, I only had the talkie portions left to shoot. I am grateful to the doctors who monitored me secretly,” she added.
Yami also shared her enjoyment of training for the film to portray an NIA agent. “Most of the training and stunts were completed (before I became pregnant). You want to be careful,” she remarked, adding, “It’s surreal that my baby was a part of this (film); it was always the two of us putting in the hard work. I was also inspired by my mother; I’ve seen her work through pregnancy. We Indian women are stronger than we give ourselves credit for.”
Yami and Aditya
Yami and Aditya first crossed paths while she was filming his 2019 directorial Uri: The Surgical Strike alongside Vicky Kaushal. After dating for two years, they tied the knot on June 4, 2021, in Himachal Pradesh. Their intimate wedding ceremony included only 20 of their closest friends and family members. The subsequent announcement on Instagram caught many by surprise as the couple had kept their relationship under wraps.
