National Plants at Work Week 2023 has commenced at Oxford Business Park to raise awareness of the wellbeing benefits available from plants in the workplace.
The plants@work association employed the use of an ambulance at this years’ commencement event, to exhibit the mental and physical benefits available from plants and their impact on wellbeing.
Plants@work ambassador, Ian Drummond says: “Research over many years has shown that plants improve our moods and reduce stress levels and generally help our work flow. They can stimulate and improve our performance and concentration plus they lessen noise around us by deflecting and diffracting sound.
“The ambulance is a great symbol to show how we should respect the work that plants do for us in the same way as we respect the National Health Service including ambulance crews.”
Shirley Smith of association member Botanica Nurseries says: “Plants make us more productive and help our creativity as well as reduce our stress levels.”
The nursery has worked on the previous two National Plants at Work Week installations and serves several businesses in the Oxford Business Park and manages their plant installations.
Plants at Work Week runs from 10 – 14 July, with plants@work members set to support the event with online features detailing the wellbeing benefits available via plants, using the hashtags #plantsatworkweek and #plantstotherescue.
People are encouraged to get involved in the dedicated week through the use of the hashtags and sharing their own plants in the work place pictures, stories and advice.
