Mark Ronson has hinted that he might give the Oscars a miss if he doesn’t get to share the stage with a particular nominee. The maestro behind the ‘Barbie’ soundtrack finds himself in the running for not one, but two Oscars, thanks to the soaring anthem ‘I’m Just Ken’.
This track is vying for the coveted ‘Best Original Song’ title, going head-to-head with Billie Eilish and Finneas’ ‘What Was I Made For?’ which has already bagged a Golden Globe.
Ryan Gosling lent his vocal talents to ‘I’m Just Ken’ in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster sensation and now the buzz is all about a potential live rendition at the Oscars on 10th March. Neither Ronson nor Gosling have given a firm nod yet. Chatting with Variety at the 2024 Grammys, Ronson teased about the prospect, saying, “Wouldn’t that be something? Has Ryan signed on the dotted line? I need confirmation… It’s my ultimate dream!”
Ronson’s heart is set on Gosling for the performance, who’s also in the running for ‘Best Supporting Actor.’ Ronson made it clear, stating, “Nah, it’s Gosling or bust for me. If Ryan’s not in, I’m out.”

As for Gosling, well, he seems to be taking it all in stride. Speaking to W Magazine about the Oscar nod and the chance to perform, he quipped, “I haven’t received my invite yet. Wasn’t even on my radar till now, but guess it’s all I’ll be thinking about.” With a grin, he asked, “Do they pay you to sing at the Oscars? Or is it DIY? And what about the cash? They at least send a car, right?”
