Selena Gomez is gearing up to step into the shoes of veteran musician Linda Ronstadt for an upcoming biopic. The confirmation of Gomez’s role came after she teased the project on social media by sharing a picture of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir, ‘Simple Dreams’.
Although a director for the biopic is yet to be announced, the film is currently in pre-production, with Ronstadt’s manager John Boylan and James Keach co-producing the venture.
The untitled biopic marks the convergence of two Mexican descent talents – Selena Gomez and Linda Ronstadt. Ronstadt, a music icon with a career spanning five decades and 11 Grammy wins, has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Recording Academy and the Latin Recording Academy.
As for the details on additional casting and the release date, they are still under wraps. The news of Gomez taking on the role of Ronstadt comes at a time when the latter’s classic hit ‘Long Long Time’ experienced a resurgence in streaming numbers, thanks to its inclusion in the acclaimed third episode of HBO’s ‘The Last Of Us.’
