During her Grammys acceptance speech, for Best Pop Vocal Album, Taylor Swift announced that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, will arrive on April 19. Check out the album art, and a note from Swift, below.
Swift’s album Midnights picked up the win for Best Pop Vocal Album over fellow nominees Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts, Ed Sheeran’s –, Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation, and Kelly Clarkson’s Chemistry. U2’s Bono presented the award to Swift remotely from the Sphere in Las Vegas. The trophy marks Swift’s 13th Grammy, as she pointed out during her acceptance speech. Thirteen, of course, is Swift’s lucky number.
Swift famously announced Midnights as a surprise during her acceptance speech at the 2022 Video Music Awards, when she won Video of the Year for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).” With that victory, she broke the record for most VMAs for Video of the Year.
This year marks the second time Swift has won Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys, previously winning in 2016 for 1989. It breaks a streak of losses in the category. In 2019, Reputation was nominated, but Ariana Grande’s Sweetener picked up the win. The next year, Lover was up against Billie Eilish’s winner When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? In 2021, Folklore was nominated alongside Dua Lipa’s category-winning Future Nostalgia. Every artist nominated this year has a previous year’s win except for Cyrus.
In addition to this category, Midnights was nominated this year for Album of the Year—an award she took home. “Anti-Hero,” meanwhile, got nods for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance. Her Ice Spice collaboration “Karma” was nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
