For the first time in more than a year, a rock album sits atop the Billboard 200 albums chart. And we have Zach Bryan to thank.
The singer-songwriter’s new self-titled album debuts this week at No. 1 after moving 200,000 equivalent album units.
Billboard classifies Bryan’s new album as both rock and country; as such, it marks the first time a rock album has gone No. 1 since Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Unlimited Love in April 2022. On the country front, it’s the third genre title to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2023, and marks the fifth-largest debut streaming week for a country album of all time.
Bryan’s previous album, last year’s American Heartbreak, peaked at No. 5. In the months since then, the Navy vet has leveled up to become a certified music superstar. As a further testament to his success, next summer he’ll embark on a stadium tour of the North America (tickets are available here).
