BENGALURU/HUBBALLI: Karnataka higher education minister C N Ashwath Narayan has expressed regret for his controversial “finish him off” statement directed at opposition leader Siddaramaiah.
Speaking in the legislative assembly on Thursday, Narayan clarified that his remarks were purely political and intended to call upon voters to defeat Siddaramaiah in the upcoming assembly election. He also claimed that he was comparing Siddaramaiah to Tipu Sultan to explain the former CM’s love of the 18th-century ruler of erstwhile Mysuru. “I have no personal differences with Siddaramaiah. My remarks were purely political. I apologise if my statement has hurt him,” the education minister said.
Narayan’s clarification came during Zero Hour, when a Congress member demanded that the government take suo motu action against Narayan for his “hate speech”.
