KOZHIKODE: A professor at National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), Dr Shaija Andavan, has courted controversy over a comment made under a Facebook post on Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin. The comment was made from a profile named “Adv Krishna Raj”.
The post had an image of Godse and a caption saying he was a hero to a lot of people of Bharat. Under this post, Andavan had commented “Proud of Godse for saving India”.A screenshot of the comment was widely shared and invited widespread criticism.
Although the comment was later deleted, Andavan said it was her personal opinion. “Somebody told me to delete it, so I deleted it. Actually, I don’t stand by the killing. If people misunderstood… So I deleted it. What I wanted to convey was not conveyed,” said Andavan. KSU and SFI student outfits are learned to have filed police complaints against the professor.
