JALANDHAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has shelved plans to call bids to launch its own TV channel for the telecast of Gurbani from the Golden Temple in Amritsar and instead, it has been preparing to launch its own YouTube and Facebook channels to broadcast the kirtan after its agreement with PTC network ends on July 23.
The decision comes amid a controversy around the live telecast of Gurbani and the AAP-led Punjab government amending the Sikh Gurdwaras Act.
“A go-ahead has also been given to the SGPC staff for making technical preparations for starting the channel on social media platforms,” the source said.
