A doctor working at a government hospital in Odisha was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 11,000 to countersign the death insurance claim of Rs 1.1 lakh. The amount was meant to be received by an eight-year-old girl whose mother died recently.
The incident happened in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
According to an official press release by Odisha Vigilance, the doctor was apprehended by officials while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 11,000 from a complainant. He accepted the amount to countersign the death insurance claim form of a deceased policyholder who was under his treatment.
