The accused in the Kanpur violence have been booked in a stamp paper theft case and a notice has been issued against them.

The accused in the Kanpur violence, Haji Wasi and Hayat Zafar, have been implicated in a fresh stamp paper theft case and notices have been issued against them. A detailed investigation by Kanpur administration has revealed that the duo evaded stamp duty payment of Rs 16 lakhs on 11 properties.
A case has been registered against the accused in an additional district magistrate’s court and further action will be taken further. A detailed probe was done by ADM, Finance, Rajesh Kumar and AIG Stamp Arunendra Sharma following which it was revealed that the duo were involved in stamp theft.
PROPERTIES WORTH CRORES OWNED
The police and administration had received information that Haji Wasi and Hayat Zafar owned properties worth hundreds of crores. While five properties were sold by Haji Wasi and four properties were sold by Hayat Zafar and during the course of the transactions, the duo evaded stamp duty payment.
ADM Finance Rajesh Kumar told India Today, “By issuing notices to both, preparations are being made to make up for the deficiency and recovery of the stamp. If the deficiency is not filled, other action including attachment will be taken.”

An investigation revealed that the property which was brought by Wasi’s son, Osama, stamp duty of Rs 8.56 lakh and registry fee of Rs 1.22 lakh was reduced.
Along with this, theft of stamp duties per property ranging from Rs 88,000 to Rs 89,000 have been found in the four properties sold by Zafar.
On July 5, police arrested Haji Wasi in connection with the Kanpur violence. Builder Haji Wasi is one of the accused in funding the Kanpur violence that broke out on June 3.
