THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The controversial Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, which replaced the ordinance that curtailed the power of the Lokayukta in Kerala, was passed by the state assembly on Tuesday. The bill was passed amid strong opposition by UDF MLAs, who termed it a black day and boycotted the final proceedings after tearing copies of the bill.
As per the amended Lokayukta Act, the appellate authority will be the assembly if there are adverse findings against the CM and if it’s a member of the assembly, the authority will be the Speaker.
