On Tuesday, Walmart announced the introduction of the first bicycles made in India, just in time for the holiday season.Hero Ecotech Ltd., a prominent Indian manufacturer and exporter of bicycles, has crafted a “cruiser-style” bike for Walmart under the Concord brand, available in both adult-sized men’s and women’s versions, expanding the company’s diverse bicycle offerings.
Hero Ecotech Ltd. is part of a growing number of Indian manufacturers establishing supplier relationships with Walmart, supporting the company’s ambitious goal to triple exports of goods from India to $10 billion annually by 2027.
As per the company’s press release, Hero Ecotech Ltd. exemplifies India’s rich history as a leading bicycle manufacturer. The cruisers available in Walmart’s US stores are constructed with over 90% of raw materials sourced from India. The company stands out as a premier manufacturer of mobility products in India and holds the distinction of being the country’s largest exporter of bicycles, shipping to over 80 countries.
