SRINAGAR: A migrant labourer was killed and two others were injured after terrorists hurled a hand grenade towards them at Gadoora Village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday evening.
A police statement said that terrorists hurled a hand grenade towards the migrant labourers from Bihar, who were outside their shed at Gadoora village in the evening, killing one on the spot and injuring two others. The injured have been rushed to a hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Mumtaz, resident of Sakwa Parsa in Bihar.
The injured — Mohd Arif and his son Mohd Maqbool from Rampor in Bihar — are stable, police said.
According to police, Lashkar-e-Taiba’s shadow outfit The Resistance Front (TRF) has been carrying out target attacks on migrant workers, members of the minority communities and off-duty cops in the Kashmir Valley for quite some time now.
In the first week of April this year, four migrant workers were injured after being fired upon by TRF terrorists in the southern districts of the Kashmir region.
On April 4, terrorists carried out three attacks in Srinagar and Pulwama, leaving one CRPF personnel dead and four people, including two workers from Bihar and a Kashmiri Pandit, injured.
On April 5, they attacked two CRPF men at the busy Maisuma chowk in the heart of Srinagar. While a head constable succumbed to his injuries, the other personnel survived the attack.
Earlier on March 19, terrorists shot at and injured a migrant carpenter at Arihal in Pulwama district. The injured, Mohammad Akram from Bijnor in UP, was hospitalised following the attack.
