NEW DELHI: In a series of DGP-level appointments involving AGMUT cadre IPS officers, B Srinivasan – who had been heading the CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir police since 2018 – was on Thursday appointed as the DGP of Puducherry while IGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Anil Shukla was posted as the police chief of Mizoram.
Devesh Chandra Srivastava, the incumbent DGP of Mizoram, has been appointed DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, replacing Neeraj Thakur who will be given a posting in Delhi. Manoj Kumar Lal, incumbent DGP of Puducherry, has also been called to Delhi for further posting.
Anand Mohan, a 1994 batch IPS officer, will join as DGP of Arunachal Pradesh, replacing Satish Golcha who will now be posted in Delhi.
The tenure of Srinivasan, a 1990 batch IPS officer, as the intelligence chief of J&K police was marked by important events including the nullification of Article 370 in the erstwhile state and its bifurcation into two separate Union territories. Originally from J&K cadre of IPS, he is the second officer from the cadre to be posted out of J&K since J&K cadre was merged with AGMUT cadre. Earlier, Lalatendu Mohanty was posted in the Delhi Police.
Shukla, a 1996 batch IPS officer of AGMUT cadre who will take over as the DGP of Mizoram, has earlier served in the National Investigation Agency. He had led investigations into several terror-related cases in Jammu and Kashmir, including the one against Kashmiri separatists.
