NEW DELHI: After fresh searches on premises linked to Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji and his family members, the ED on Thursday said it has put a 2.4 acre land worth Rs 30 crore at Salem Bypass Road, Andankovil, Karur in Tamil Nadu under a freeze order considering it to be ‘proceeds of crime’. Balaji is currently in ED custody.
The agency said despite multiple summons issued to Balaji’s brother R V Ashok Balaji, the latter’s wife Nirmala and mother-in-law P Lakshmi to appear for questioning with regard to suspected cash transactions in the land deal, they have not appeared, demonstrating a lack of cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
