NOIDA: A broken road opposite the Sector 52 metro station causes snarls for commuters daily. Also, the lack of barricading at the U-turn near the station has led to many illegal e-rickshaw stands.
“The road near the MMR 52nd Avenue gate in the opposite direction of Sector 52 metro station is completely damaged. Noida Authority work circle 6 officials have been informed about this matter several times in the last three months. But no action is being taken by them,” said Anil Prakash Ranotra RWA president of Sector 51.
According to residents, the condition of the road disrupts traffic at this spot even during the lean period around 3 to 3.30pm.
“The situation is worse during peak office closing hours after 6pm as the stretch is packed with vehicles,” said Sanjeev Kumar RWA general secretary of Sector 51.
Previously, residents had come out and filled the potholes with soil in protest. “We feel that this time too we will have to do the same, come out to fill the potholes ourselves,” said Kumar.
Meanwhile, the lack of barricading at the u-turn near the Sector 52 metro station has led to the spot becoming a hub for unauthorised e-rickshaw stands, residents said.
“E-rickshaws run from the opposite direction all the time and even park on the u-turn, posing an accident threat. Despite repeated requests to the Noida Authority and the traffic department to install barricades on this u-turn, the matter has not been addressed,” said Kumar.
According to Kumar, the matter had been raised with Authority officials and the CEO at the samadhan diwas meeting held in Sector 47 on September 2 last year. But there has been no redress since despite the problem persisting, Kumar added.
A response from Authority officials on both matters is still awaited.
Later in the day, taking cognisance of the complaint authority CEO Lokesh M directed action. DGM Vijay Rawal ordered repair work of the road which began on Sunday.
