A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Sanjay Karol, however, refused to stay the bail granted to the accused in the money laundering case on an appeal filed by the Enforcement Directorate. The court raised questions on how such conditions can be imposed which can violate the rights of accused.
“What kind of conditions have been passed? See this – Google pin drop location. Total surveillance. We will have to see if this can even be allowed. Issue notice,” the bench said.
While granting bail to accused Raman Bhurarua in the money laundering case of Rs 3,269.4 crore related to Shakti Bhog Foods bank fraud , the high court had said, “The applicant shall drop a Google pin location from his mobile phone to the IO concerned which shall be kept operational throughout his bail.” Bhuraria was the internal auditor of Shakti Bhog Foods Limited (SBFL) . Bhuraria was arrested in August 2021 and was granted bail in February.
