The circular mentions that given the sensitivity of the issue, the exhibition should be “showcased with the sobriety and solemnity it deserves”. “It may be specifically ensured that the sentiments of any section of the society are not to be hurt. It is reiterated the SOP should be strictly adhered to,” the circular states.
The SOP also suggests that persons who have suffered the tragedy of Partition be invited to the exhibition. It recommends a small function at the beginning of the exhibition, with a brief introduction about the purpose. Freedom fighters, prominent senior citizens or public representatives can be invited to inaugurate the event. Patriotic songs should be played during the ceremony, which must end with the national anthem.
Media can be invited and enough efforts should be made so that more people can come and see the exhibition. It also states that enough security arrangements be made.
Schools have also been asked to make a brief report of activities (including 2-3 photographs) and upload it in the link provided.
Some educationists slammed the move, calling it an attempt to divide children along communal lines.
