NEW DELHI: The wife of a cricketer was allegedly stalked and harassed in west Delhi’s Kirti Nagar on Friday night while she was on her way home to Model Town in her car. The woman also posted a photograph of the suspect on social media.
She claims a police official told her that if she had reached home safe, there was no need to file a complaint. Police are verifying her claims. Two men allegedly involved in the incident have been arrested. tnn
‘I am sure they have learned their lesson’
She stated in her complaint that on Thursday around 8.30pm, while she was waiting at the traffic light in Kirti Nagar, two men on a motorcycle crossed her car at high speed and then stopped their two-wheeler in front of her car. The woman alleged that they started staring at her and then banged her car with their hands.
DCP (west) Ghanshyam Bansal said, “Based on the complaint, a case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354D (stalking), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50) and 506 (criminal intimidation) at Kirti Nagar police station.” With regard to the allegations made by the woman regarding the response of police over the PCR call, the DCP said they are looking into them.
Police analysed CCTV footage and the accused were identified as Chaitnaya Shivam and Vivek, both 18. The duo was arrested from their residence.
TOI reached out the woman, who said that since the accused are just school students she asked police to go easy on them. “They have been caught and they are just Class 12 kids doing this out of rage. Their future shouldn’t be ruined, I am sure they have learned a lesson,” she said.
