PATNA: JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh on Friday predicted that dictatorship would be enforced in the country if the BJP continued to remain in power at the Centre for some more days.
Asked that BJP leaders were talking about saving democracy in the country, Lalan retorted, “Where is the BJP working to save democracy? In fact, the BJP is hellbent to end democracy in the country. If the BJP continues to remain in power for some more days, dictatorship will be enforced in the country.” He was responding to media queries at the state JD(U) office here.
Asked for his reaction on the Gujarat high court’s refusal to stay the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi conviction in a criminal defamation case over his “Modi surname” remark, the JD(U) president said the Congress would obviously move an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging the Gujarat high court order.
When his attention was drawn towards the ongoing controversy between the state’s education minister Prof Chandrashekhar and his department’s additional chief secretary K K Pathak, Singh, who is also the JD(U) leader in the Lok Sabha, said, “The matter is related to the state government. And the state government is looking into it. The state government takes care of its work.”
Singh, JD(U) MP from Munger Lok sabha seat, also said as the matter is not related to his party, hence it would not be proper for him to comment on it.
